July 2008 will mark the arrival of the Carnival Splendor—the first in an entirely new class of Funships. The Splendor will be a 113,300 marvel of innovation, mixing old elements with new, never before seen ones, such as 68 “spa class” staterooms. These rooms will surround a luxurious 21,000-square-foot health and wellness center. The spa itself will contain an elaborate thermal suite as well as a thalassotherapy pool, covered by a glass dome. As with all of their ships, Carnival has made sure that the Splendor remains family-friendly by including amenities such as a water spray park, a 2 level 5,500 sq ft. children’s play area, and a teen club featuring a dancefloor with a DJ and high-tech sound system. With the kids occupied, adults are free to enjoy a game of golf, go for a swim (in stormy weather, head for the mid-ship pool with the retractable dome), or indulge in a tasty treat at a specialty restaurant.
First-time cruisers who want an active, high-energy, party atmosphere; young singles and couples; young-at-heart of any age; those who enjoy the flash and Las Vegas glitz or similar ambiance.

Dress
Carnival emphasizes casual dress during the day, and most evenings also enforce this “cruise casual” dress. However, a few nights may require a more refined approach to dress—this is categorized as “Cruise Elegance.” This may include cocktail dresses and pantsuits for women and dress slacks and shirts for men.
