Island Princess

Like her sister ship the Coral Princess, the new Island Princess features an innovative power generation technology – a gas turbine/diesel engine combination, with the gas turbines placed in the ship's funnel. This configuration is not only environmentally advantageous but also frees up a great deal of space inside the ship for an even greater array and variety of passenger facilities. These include three show lounges, two main dining rooms, Italian- and New Orleans-style specialty restaurants, a wedding chapel, a nine-hole golf putting course, and a cigar lounge with its own humidor. Nearly 90 percent of the ship's cabins are outside, and most of these feature their own private balcony--a Princess hallmark. Specially engineered to go through the Panama Canal, the ship debuts with a 14-day Panama Canal itinerary before embarking on a series of 7-day Alaska cruises from June to September and 10-nt Panama Canal sailings from October through April.
