Themed to Dutch worldwide exploration, treasures from the 17th and 18th centuries reflect a time of adventure and discovery. The Statendam features a penthouse suite, 28 suites and 120 mini suites. Each of the 149 suites has a private verandah, a VCR, whirlpool bath and minibar. All staterooms are equipped with sofas, hairdryers, individually controlled air conditioning, telephone and computerized wake-up service, multi-channel music system and closed circuit television.
The ms Statendam is the fifth ship to bear the name in Holland America Line's 133-year history. With more than $2 million worth of art and artifacts, the ms Statendam features a theme of Dutch life and exploration. The Van Gogh Theater is a work of art in itself. Themed to Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh's paintings "The Starry Night" and "Irises," the room features computerized fiber optic lighting as well as a state-of-the-art sound system.
You can expect more of the same aboard this signature Holland America ship; fine dining, spacious staterooms (149 of which feature private verandahs), the best in cruise entertainment, relaxing nooks and beautiful art displayed throughout the ship. In the center of the ship, a soaring three-story atrium showcases an elaborate 26-foot-high "Fountain of the Siren" sculpture, which extends from the Lower Promenade Deck to the Upper Promenade. The ms Statendam recently completed all Signature of Excellence enhancements to her public rooms in Spring 2005. Traveling aboard the ms Statendam is world-class cruising at its finest.

Gratuities

Dress
Holland America emphasizes that passengers dress for comfort during the day onboard as well as on shore at the ports of call. Evening wear includes both formal and “smart casual” categories. Slacks and collared shirts for men set a good example of that qualifies at ‘smart casual” while this category includes casual dresses, slacks and informal variations of evening wear for women.
