Zuiderdam
With her 2003 debut, the ms Zuiderdam began a new class of Holland America cruise ships aptly called the Vista Series--forward-looking in both design and spirit. On board, 1,848 pampered guests will enjoy more space per person than any other ship in a fleet already known for its stylish, spacious comfort. Plus, there are more outside staterooms with ocean views and private verandahs; more convenience, including Internet/E-mail data ports in every stateroom; and more delight: expanded spa facilities, three sparkling pools, and blissful seven-day cruises through the Eastern Caribbean.
The ms Zuiderdam began her inaugural season in 2002 as the first ship in our Vista-class series. As with all ships in the Vista-class, the ms Zuiderdam embraces the latest industry and environmental technologies such as her use of a full-scale diesel-electric power plant for optimal energy efficiency and an Azipod propulsion system that maximizes maneuverability. Forward-looking in both design and spirit, the ms Zuiderdam was also the first ship to offer data ports in every stateroom for Internet and email access.
At the heart of the ms Zuiderdam, suspended in a three-story atrium, a Waterford Crystal Seahorse sets the mood for exquisite pieces of art to be seen throughout this elegant ship. On board the ms Zuiderdam, marvelous nooks and crannies contain priceless works of art. Guests will find a recurring Venetian theme throughout the ship; the most dazzling features figures in the time of Carnival in Venice, created by Daniel Ogier. Guests can also expect signature Holland America touches, such as a gracious and unobtrusive staff, gourmet meals, spacious accommodations and the very best in entertainment and activities. The ms Zuiderdam completed all Signature of Excellence enhancements to her public rooms and staterooms in Fall 2005.
