Cunard Line Dress Code
Cunard welcomes relaxed clothing during the day, while most evenings follow either a Smart Attire or Gala Evening dress code.
Daytime Attire
During the day, casual clothing is welcome throughout most areas of the ship.
Shorts, jeans, T-shirts, and other relaxed clothing are appropriate. Swimwear should be reserved for pool areas, spa facilities, fitness areas, and other appropriate recreational spaces.
Swimwear is not permitted in indoor dining areas.
Smart Attire
From approximately 6:00 p.m., Smart Attire is requested in most bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
Suggested Smart Attire includes:
- Collared shirts with trousers
- Cocktail dresses
- Skirts
- Tailored trousers with an elegant top
- Jackets, which are optional but encouraged
Jeans, shorts, and casual sportswear are not permitted in venues where the Smart Attire dress code applies.
Gala Evenings
Cunard's Gala Evenings offer guests an opportunity to dress more formally.
Suggested attire includes:
- Dinner jackets or tuxedos
- Dark suits with a tie or bow tie
- Floor-length gowns
- Cocktail dresses
- Smart trouser suits
- Formal separates
Guests who prefer not to dress formally can use selected casual dining and entertainment venues where relaxed attire is welcome.
Voyages of three nights or longer generally feature at least one Gala Evening, with around two Gala Evenings per week used as a general guide. Exact Gala Evening dates and themes are shown in My Cunard before sailing.
Gala Evening Themes
Selected Gala Evenings may feature themes such as:
- Black and White
- Red and Gold
- Roaring 20s
- Masquerade
Participation in the theme itself is optional, although guests should still follow the applicable Gala Evening dress code.
