Smoking Policy - MSC Cruises

This smoking policy is specific to MSC Cruises and is provided for your reference. The details are based on the cruise line's official information. Please ensure that your cruise aligns with this policy. Cruise Direct is not responsible for any sudden changes to the policy.

MSC Cruises Smoking Policy

MSC Cruises ships are primarily non-smoking. Smoking areas are limited and are identified by signage and ashtrays.

Smoking is prohibited:

  • In staterooms
  • On stateroom balconies
  • In indoor public areas
  • In any area not specifically designated for smoking

This policy also applies to electronic cigarettes and vaping devices.

Casino Smoking

Smoking may be permitted in onboard casinos during opening hours for guests who are seated and actively playing, subject to the ship's designated smoking arrangements.

Designated Smoking Areas

Smoking is permitted only in designated areas identified onboard by appropriate signage and ashtrays.

The location and availability of designated smoking areas may vary by ship.

Electronic Cigarettes and Local Laws

Guests should also be aware that some destinations restrict or prohibit the possession, importation, or use of electronic cigarettes and vaping devices.

MSC currently specifically warns guests that Mexico prohibits the importation of vapes and e-cigarettes, including non-nicotine devices, so guests should review applicable local regulations before taking such devices ashore.

Violations

MSC Cruises may impose a fee on guests found smoking in non-designated areas.

Repeated violations of the smoking policy may result in disembarkation.

Guests must never throw cigarette butts or other items overboard, as doing so presents a serious safety and fire risk.

Smoking areas, local regulations, penalties, and onboard policies may vary by ship and itinerary and are subject to change without prior notice.
