Norwegian Cruise Line Children's Age Requirements
Minimum Age to Sail
Infants must be at least 6 months old on the day of boarding.
For cruises with 3 or more consecutive days at sea, infants must be at least 12 months old on the day of boarding.
Guests Under 21 Years of Age
Guests under 21 must generally be accompanied in the same stateroom, or a connecting/adjoining stateroom, by a guest age 21 or older.
Guests ages 18–20 may travel together in the same stateroom without a guest age 21 or older if they are married and provide proof of marriage at embarkation.
Certain members of the U.S. or Canadian military who are ages 18–20 may also be eligible to sail without an accompanying guest age 21 or older, subject to Norwegian Cruise Line's verification requirements.
Documentation for Minors
Guests under 18 traveling with an adult who is not their parent or legal guardian must provide Norwegian Cruise Line's Parent/Guardian Consent Form at check-in. The form authorizes the minor's travel and emergency medical treatment.
Both living parents or legal guardians must complete and sign the form and provide copies of government-issued identification.
For itineraries visiting Canada, additional travel authorization documentation may be required.
Alcohol Consumption
- Guests must generally be 21 or older to purchase or consume alcohol on U.S. sailings.
- Guests ages 18–20 may purchase and consume beer and wine while the ship is in international waters if an accompanying parent provides consent.
- This exception does not apply in Alaska or Hawaii, where guests must be 21 or older.
- On roundtrip Australian, European and New Zealand itineraries, guests age 18 and older may purchase and consume alcoholic beverages without parental consent.
- In China/Asia waters, guests must be 21 or older.
Casino
Guests must be at least 18 years old to gamble in Norwegian Cruise Line casinos and must be able to provide valid identification showing their age.
