Norwegian Cruise Line Children's Age Requirements

Minimum age to sail:

Infants must be at least 6 months old at the time of sailing. For voyages with 3 or more consecutive days at sea, infants must be at least 12 months old at the time of sailing.

Guests Under 18 Years of Age:

Guests under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older in the same, connecting, or adjacent stateroom.
Two people under 18 may travel together in the same stateroom if they are married and provide proof of marriage at embarkation.

Documentation for Minors:

If a minor is traveling with an adult who is not their parent or legal guardian, a Parent/Guardian Consent Form is required. This form authorizes the minor’s travel and medical treatment in emergencies. When visiting a Canadian port, an additional letter of authorization is required along with the Parent/Guardian Consent Form.

General Restrictions (Alcohol Consumption & Casino):

  • Guests 18-20 years old may purchase beer or wine in international waters if accompanied by a parent (parent must be onboard). This is not allowed on Alaska and Hawaii cruises.
  • Guests 18 years and older can consume alcohol on roundtrip European, Australian, and New Zealand voyages without parental consent.
  • Guests must be 18 years or older to gamble. If a guest under 18 wins and cannot prove their age, they will not receive winnings.
