Life is a Celebration in New Orleans
Louisiana is an eclectic city. Known as the Crescent City and “The Big Easy,” New Orleans is filled with live jazz and blues, and festive celebrations year-round.
The biggest party in New Orleans is Mardi Gras, which features colorful costumes and floats, drinking, and bead throwing. The French Quarter and Bourbon Street are well known, but there’s also the ethereal Garden District, lined with stately homes and mansions. Take the St. Charles streetcar through the city for a cheap and lazy tour, and you’ll be able to see lots of amazing buildings. Walk to Magazine Street for a huge number of boutiques and restaurants.
Speaking of which, New Orleans is known for its food. Creole and Cajun cuisine rule here, and it´s so good, you must be careful that you don’t leave several pounds heavier. Try po-boys, gumbo, jambalaya, and if you feel adventurous, gator.
