Norwegian Cruise Line Gratuities Policy
Why is there a service charge?
Norwegian Cruise Line applies a daily service charge that supports crew members including complimentary restaurant staff, stateroom stewards, and behind-the-scenes support staff.
How much are the service charges?
For current bookings:
- $25.00 USD per person, per day for The Haven and Suites
- $20.00 USD per person, per day for Club Balcony Suite and below
Service charges apply to all guests age 3 and older.
Guests sailing to Hawaii may be charged an additional applicable General Excise Tax (GET) on prepaid service charges.
How do I prepay my service charges?
Service charges can be prepaid by adding them to your reservation through your travel professional, during online check-in, or through your MyNCL account.
Prepaid service charges may be added up to 24 hours before embarkation.
Why would I prepay my service charges?
Prepaying service charges allows guests to account for this expense before sailing rather than having the charges added onboard.
If I cancel my cruise, are prepaid service charges refundable?
Yes. Prepaid service charges are refundable if the cruise reservation is cancelled.
Can service charges be adjusted onboard?
Guests who experience a service issue should first contact Guest Services onboard so Norwegian Cruise Line has an opportunity to address the concern. If the issue is not resolved satisfactorily, guests may request an adjustment to the service charge before disembarkation.
Additional Gratuities
A 20% gratuity and service charge is added to applicable beverage purchases, spa and salon services, specialty dining, and entertainment-based dining.
